Renmore AFC 3 - 3 West Utd Fc
Scorers: Keith Fitzgerald x2, Luke Byrnes
Assists: Ryan Corcoran, Jack Greaney, Shane Trill
Renmore gained another valuable point at home in the race for survival after a tough battle against seasoned Premier League Campaigners West Utd.
Renmore started brightly and were 1- 0 up after Jack Greaney went on a mazy run and was brought down inside the box. Captain Keith Fitzgerald stepped up and tucked away his 7th goal of the season. Moments later a combination of defensive errors led to a poor clearance but take no credit away from former Renmore player Sean Keogh who showed why he is still playing at the top level with a sublime volley from all of 40 yards rattled the back of the net.
Renmore did not panic and played some nice football which was rewarded when a fine pass out wide from Ryan Corcoran was collected by Luke Byrnes who cut inside and sent a wonder strike into the top corner! It could have been 3 moments later after an incredible run from Oran Power who weaved his way passed 3 West defenders with amazing skill but could not provide the finish.
West immediately went on the attack and were awarded a penalty, dispatched well by Niall Martyn. Half time 2-2 and all to play for but it was West who came out fighting as they are well known for. Renmore found it difficult to put passes together and struggled to create chances for strikers Rob Mangan and Sammy Omokua. Luke Smith came on for Rob Mangan and immediately got involved releasing Sammy on the right side who cut in and saw his left foot strike curl agonizingly wide of the right post.
Some solid defending from Cathal Burke and Shane Trill kept West at bay until with 25 mins to go a corner kick was tucked away by West legend Dennis Lydon.
Renmore did not give up and went 3 at the back bringing on Paddy Gannon to push bodies forward. West still looked dangerous on the counter and could have went 4 - 2 up only for Dave McDonagh to make an incredible save 1on1 which was then brilliantly cleared by Gannon to set Renmore on the attack.
Close to the 90th minute and up stepped Captain Fitzgerald who volleyed home a thunderbolt to level it at 3-3. Dion Walsh was brought on to shore up the midfield for the super consistent Nathan Healy who was outstanding again. Walsh was called into action straight away as he stopped a West attack with a good header when it looked like West's winger would be through on goal. A deserved point means the survival race goes down to the wire!
Renmore's last league game is next Sunday in a huge home game vs St Bernards at 11am. Thanks to all the supporters who made up a huge crowd today and the lads will be looking for more of the same next week with a win securing Premier League status for next season!
RENMORE 5-0 MERVUE UTD
A slightly unfamiliar kit didn't slow down the Renmore U13 lads in their Division 1 contest against near neighbours Mervue played in West Park on Wednesday evening. In ideal conditions, both teams set out in very attacking mode from the start but with Liam Kelly's marauding runs down the right flank proving a menace to the Mervue defence, Finn O'Reilly pounced after 10 minutes to slide the ball past Evan Molloy in the Mervue goal to seize the initiative for Renmore.
Finn got on the end of a cross from Liam 10 minutes later to double Renmore's lead with a guided header to the far corner. Despite the best efforts of Jack Curran and Ryan Dillon for Mervue, Renmore's resolute backline ensured that the score line remained unchanged to the half.
The second half started as a battle between the midfields but midway through Lisandro Gjegaj finished low to the corner after a mazy run to put Renmore 3 up. As Mervue came forward in search of a foothold in the game, they inevitably left some gaps at the back and Finn O'Reilly secured his hat trick with 5 minutes to go, latching on to the rebound before dispatching to the net after Evan Molloy had saved a piercing effort from Liam Kelly.
Niall McHugh completed the scoring with Renmore's 5th, finishing cleverly after a run from his own penalty area. This was a fantastic contest played in good spirits, with Mervue contributing with some excellent football throughout.
Thanks to Padraic DeBurca for officiating in this one.
Renmore AFC 2 - 2 Galway Hibs
Scorers: Luke Byrnes and Luke Smith
Assists: Sammy Omokua and Ryan Corcoran
Renmore continued their good home form with a point against a spirited Hibs side. Renmore went 1 down early after a freekick was saved by Dave McDonagh but a Hibs player bet the Renmore defenders to the 2nd ball to take the lead. Renmore struggled to get going but struck twice before half time, a rocket from Luke Byrnes and a cool finish from Luke Smith. Renmore led 2-1 at half time and it could have been 3 when Oran Powers strike was cleared off the line brilliantly by a Hibs defender. Hibs came out figthing in the 2nd half and a loose backpass was brilliantly seized upon by the Hibs attacker who took it around the keeper to level the game. A point each in the battle for relegation means next Saturdays home game at 2pm in Renmore vs West Utd. is huge! Pictured is Captain Keith Fitzgerald, Harry Rogers, Nathan Healey and Luke Byrnes presenting our number 1 fan Mary with a Renmore hat. A lovely woman who looks forward to watching Renmore each week and arrives before every game to talk to the players and after the game is the first person onto the pitch to say well done! Thanks for all the support from everyone and lets get a big support next Saturday in what will be biggest game of the season for the club to try secure Premier Division status for next season
Renmore AFC 1 - 1Athenry FC
Scorer for Renmore: Ryan Corcoran
Assist: Cathal Burke
Renmore earned a massive point in the race for safety and continued their strong home form with an outstanding team performance in West Park on Saturday.
With 12 players missing mostly to injury Renmore began the game with a depleted squad but that did not dampen their spirit or desire. Renmore got off to a disastrous start with Athenry scoring a wonderful goal in the first minute through Cole Connolly but Renmore kept their heads high and stuck to the game plan. They contained Athenry and had a chance to level when the skilful Luke Byrnes bet his man and played a ball to Stuart Donoghue on the edge of the box who cut inside but sent his strike just over the bar.
Renmore did get their reward though moments later when a fabulous ball from Cathal Burke found an excellent run from Ryan Corcoran who finished brilliantly with a volley over the Athenry keeper.
1 - 1 at half time.
Athenry stepped it up a gear in the 2nd half but Renmore's backline of the evergreen Colie Ridge, Captain Keith Fitzgerald, Cathal Burke and Shane Trill with the excellent Dave McDonagh behind them in goals stood strong. And it was Renmore who came closest to nicking a win when a Luke Byrnes piledriver from all of 25yards hit the inside of the post and rolled across the goal line!
Nathan Healey was a rock in the middle of the park and provided the composure Renmore needed on the ball when they were under pressure and with 10 mins to go they almost nicked a winner when the excellent Leigh Nolan broke away and played a sublime through ball for Renmore's brilliant youngster Luke Smith who's strike went narrowly wide.
A point well deserved and the celebrations at full time were what football is all about! Huge credit to referee Marc Lynch who let the game flow and was spot on with every decision. Thanks to all the great support as always!
Next up is another home tie against Hibs on Saturday 15th at 2pm.

Renmore AFC 4 - 4 Maree Oranmore FC
Renmore picked up a valuable point at home, to top of the league Oranmore yesterday in horrible conditions.
After a good start Renmore found themselves 1-0 down after 30 mins but the heads did not drop and they replied with and a wonder goal from Paddy McKernon 5 mins later. A quick 1/2 on the left side of the pitch saw the ball fall to Paddy 25 yards out and he released a rocket into the far top corner.
Renmore had the momentum and 5 mins later a great team goal saw multiple passes in the middle with great link up play from young Luke Smyth to end up releasing Sammy Omokua down the wing and his brilliant pull back met Rob Mangan on the edge of the box who scored with a quality finish. Just before half time the outstanding Nathan Healey went on a solo run through the middle beating numerous opponents and weaved his way into the box before an excellent finish saw the scoreline 3-1 at h/t.
A dream start to the 2nd half saw Renmore rewarded a penalty after great pressure from Sammy Omokua again who was taken down by the keeper. He stepped up and dispatched a good penalty to make it 4-1.
Oranmore then went down to 10men with 30 mins to go after a dangerous tackle on Shane May who alongside Keith Fitzgerald Owen Folan and Dominik Vavro looked very solid up to that point with Cian Costello claiming every high ball with authority. All credit to Oranmore who showed great heart and proved their class as to why they are title contendors this year as even with 10 men they looked better and began to pile on the pressure scoring 3 goals before the end to level it up.
A late red card for renmore made it 10 men each with 5 mins to go and it was then a shootout. Renmore had 1 final chance after a piece of individual brilliance from Harry Rogers who worked hard all game released the returning Arron McGinty 1on1 with the keeper who denied Renmore the win.
Best of luck to Brendan and all at Oranmore for the rest of the season and thanks as always to our 1st team main sponsors this year Crowes Bar Bohermore, O'Reilly's bar Salthill and An Pucan. Next up for Renmore is a 1st local derby in years away to Mervue Utd next Saturday at 3pm. All support greatly appreciated as fixtures don't get any tougher than this!
U12 Boys Division 4 League
Galway Hibernians 2 - 6 Renmore B
In the first league encounter between these sides, they served up a spectacle which included 11 goals. While not quite matching that score line this time around, the teams still managed to serve up 8 goals in a thrilling match played in Bohermore this morning.
Hibs took the early lead, with Patrick Ward once again showing his predatory instincts, latching on to a through ball before calmly slotting past Cillian King. Indeed, it was the first of many contests between Ward and the Renmore keeper throughout the game, with Cillian managing to keep him out for the remainder.
Two quick goals from Lisandro Gjejaj and Callum Flynn turned the game on its head just before halftime to give Renmore the lead at the break. Renmore were able to continue the momentum in the second half , with Leon Clairon Hardy scoring a header before Callum Flynn completed his goals tally to put Renmore 5 - 1 ahead midway through the second half.
Sean Behan pulled one back for Hibs with an incredible free kick from at least 20 yards out, which flew past King in the Renmore goal, before Flynn provided more breathing space for Renmore with his 4th of the game shortly before the end.
An excellent, open game of flowing football between two attacking minded teams, this was thoroughly enjoyed by all those in attendance.
Renmore AFC 1 - 0 Kinvara Utd.
Division 2 U15 League Cup.
Great result for the U15 team on Saturday (22nd Jan 2022) at home with great support from the home crowd. The first half saw great efforts from Daragh Finnerty and Evan Healy up front with efforts that went narrowly wide.
There were chances for both sides in what was a great competition between the teams.
Excellent performances by goal keeper Liam Conneelly and defenders Charlie Evans, Mark Kenville, Michael Geary and Zach Duffy meant the sides went in 0 - 0 at halftime.
At the start of the second half Renmore began putting real pressure on with Juan Newell, Conor O' Sullivan and Dean O'Brien in the midfield and with Lorcan Carter on the right wing.
With a minute left before full time, Dean O'Brien was brought down for a penalty. Ronan Barrett put the penalty away and put Renmore through to the semi - finals to play Cregmore Claregalway Football Club.
Well done lads. Bring on the semi - final!
Thanks to our sponsors; Delight!
U12 Boys Division 2 League
Renmore AFC 2 - 1 West Coast Utd
Renmore came out on top of a very evenly matched contest played in surprisingly pleasant conditions in Renmore Avenue at lunchtime today.
Renmore started the game quickly and looked to have taken a very early lead with an Eanna Daly finish after some neat exchanges between Oisin Gorham and Liam Kelly, only for it to be chalked off for offside.
Daly was not to be denied shortly thereafter finishing low beyond the West Coast keeper to put Renmore in front, but the visitors came right back and scored a fantastic goal, with the right midfielder skipping past 2 players before unleashing a rocket past Paddy McCarroll in the Renmore goal.
The game remained level until midway through the second half when Luke Seoighe latched onto a loose ball in the box and slotted the ball into the corner to give Renmore a lead which they managed to preserve to the final whistle.
This was an excellent contest, played between two evenly matched sides, with Renmore's ever reliable defence being worked hard throughout but proving equal to the task to secure the 3 points.

RENMORE AFC 'B' 3-1 OUGHTERARD
x1 Sheppard, x1 Mangan, x1 McGinty
Junior B's got their season back on track with a battling win over a resilient and stern Oughterard side in Renmore today. The opening exchanges were fairly even until an Ollie Sheppard strike put the hosts one goal to the good ahead and from there until the end of the half Renmore dominated possession for long periods, then suddenly Renmore found themselves two in front when an expertly delivered corner off the left foot of Josh Byrnes found the head of Rob Mangan who made no mistake from close range. A penalty for the visitor's was dispatched just on the stroke of half-time to bring Oughterard right back into the game.
In the second half Oughterard up their game and began to push for an equalizer but they found the Renmore rear guard in no mood for any complacency with excellent performances at the back by Shane McHugh, Philip Lydon, Stephen Holland and Josh Byrnes as well as a stand out performance from Renmore's debutant goalkeeper Ger Hogan.
Renmore finished the game off in style by a stunning individual effort by Kieron McGinty who's strike from all of 25 yards found the bottom corner and effectively finished the game as a contest.
A minutes silence was respectfully observed by both side's before the game for the untimely passing of Bernie McGrath who's son Sean is an important member of the squad and everyone associated with Renmore would like to express our deepest condolences to Sean and all of the McGrath family and friend's at this sad time, may she rest in peace
In very challenging conditions on Saturday morning, Renmore emerged victorious after a hard fought battle with St. Bernard's. The early exchanges of this Division 4 encounter were very even until Lisandro Gjegjaj gained control for Renmore AFC with a clinical finish after 10 minutes. Senan O'Neill doubled the lead just before half time with a well placed effort. Indeed Renmore AFC may have a bigger lead at the half but for the valiant efforts of the St. Bernard's keeper.
St. Bernard's were revitalised after the break and their pressure paid off as they pulled one back with 15 minutes to go. Renmore kept their composure and after a well worked attack, Senan O'Neill dispatched his second of the game into the net to restore the 2 goal lead that Renmore were able to maintain until the final whistle.
A very entertaining game in awful conditions, and a victory that was just reward for a Renmore side who worked tirelessly from whistle to whistle.
The dreadful conditions on Saturday were illuminated by some wonderful football in a league victory over Moyne Villa. Renmore started on the front foot and despite the best efforts of the Moyne Villa defence, Josh O'Reilly was able to latch onto a cross-field ball to slot past the keeper and set the ball rolling for Renmore in the early minutes. Finn O'Reilly proved a thorn in the side of Moyne Villa all day and coolly finished the first of his four goals on the day shortly thereafter.
As Moyne Villa were forced to push forward in search of goals, Renmore were able to build some fantastic counter attacking moves and Finn had completed his hat-trick by the half, to send Renmore in with a 4 goal lead.
To their credit, Moyne Villa never gave up and started the 2nd half with a renewed vigour. The Renmore defence were pinned back for the early part of the 2nd half but proved equal to the task and Finn O'Reilly opened the scoring for the half with a clinical finish after another counter for Renmore.
Moyne Villa pegged one back but any hopes of a dramatic comeback were dispelled when Eanna Daly coolly slotted past the keeper for Renmore's 6th. Liam Kelly was the provider in chief for Renmore on the day and got in on the scoring act himself shortly before the final whistle with a powerful shot to the corner. Moyne Villa worked tirelessly throughout but were undone on the day by some wonderful football by Renmore.
TP Brennan Connacht Junior Cup
ROUND 2
Kilglass/Enniscrone FC 1-2 Renmore 'B' x1 Mangan, x1 Holland
A good performance in near perfect conditions up in Sligo today produced a game that the away side dominated for long spells while playing some excellent football throughout.
A goal just after half-time by Rob Mangan with some excellent build up play by Aaron Connolly and Matthew Loughnane down the right created the opportunity which Mangan gladly capitalised on. Soon after Renmore were 2 goals to the good when a corner swung in by young Alex Loughnane found the willing head of Stephen Holland who fired Renmore 2 up.
A penalty with 5 minutes remaining for the hosts was converted to leave a nervy finish which the away side weathered well.
Next up is a Home game in the league against St Pats next Sunday at 11am. All support would be greatly appreciated!
Western Hygiene Supplies Division 1
Renmore AFC 2-1 Craughwell Utd
rogers x1, glynn x1
Renmore stay top of the table after a hard earned 2-1 win against a spirited young Craughwell side. Craughwell started better and could have been 1-0 up after 25 minutes from the penalty spot but a fine double save from Dave McDonagh kept Renmore in the game.
Renmore then had a 5 minute spell which seen Nathan Healey hit a great strike off the post. Renmore really struggled to get anything going after that and a few minutes later Craughwell made them pay with a fine goal to take a 1-0 lead at half time.
Renmore came out better in the 2nd half but still struggled to create chances. A double substitution saw last weeks hero Paddy McKernon and captain Keith Fitzgerald returning from injury come in and Renmore instantly looked more dangerous. Colie Ridge came in at left wing and looked to bomb forward at every opportunity and was unlucky not to equalize only to see his fine effort from inside the box fly wide.
Renmore kept working hard and Harry Rogers continued his purple patch in front of goal to grab the equalizer with a couple of minutes left to play. Another double substitution saw Dion Walshe and Rory Glynn come on and it was Glynn who turned out to be the hero in injury time after a magnificent Andrin Kraja through ball found his run and the finish was sublime.
Next up for Renmore is a local Derby against Mervue B next Saturday 2pm in Renmore.

DYNAMO BLUES 1-3 RENMORE mckernon x1, gannon x1, kraja x1
WESTERN HYGIENE SUPPLIES DIVISON 1
An excellent away day result for Renmore 'A' as they made the trip to Tuam to play a bouyant Dynamoe Blues side who had beaten Mervue 'B' four nil previously in Division 1 the week before. The first half brought plenty of energy from the home side but for all of their possession and dominance just couldn't make the break through as it ended 0-0 at half time. The second half would bring goals and action aplenty from both determined sides.
Second half and a different performance from the visitors Renmore as they went about probing openings to gain full points from this tough fixture. Out of the blocks quickly after the turn around it was Renmore who began to dominate as the half progressed and a pile driver of a shot from Paddy McKernon confirmed this as his right foot effort got them on their way, a sublime shot that flew into the corner and nestled in the net in a flash. A quick flurry of activity from the bench and Renmore where in the ascendancy now as a powerful Paddy Gannon header from a corner gave Renmore a deserved 2 nil score line.
This second goal brought a reaction from the home side and on 68 minutes a well worked Dynamo Blues move saw Mikey Mannion finish at the far post to reduce the deficit to 2-1 and game on. With the Tuam side throwing more men forward in search of the equaliser it was Renmore who countered and a fine individual goal on 79 minutes from Andrin Kraja saw him finish coolly with only the keeper to beat to make it 3-1. With a resolute Renmore defending, the game ended with a confident win, after last weeks disappointing result. This saw them leap frog to the top of the table. A fantastic result that Renmore can build upon as they face newly promoted Craughwell at home in Renmore next Sunday at 11am. All support welcomed and very much appreciated!

Renmore B 3-2 Moyne Villa
An amazing finish to a game that was played in a sun soaked Renmore this morning saw Renmore B snatch victory from the jaws of defeat! A game that was played with good energy, was dominated for large parts by a very well organised Moyne Villa side who to their credit played some excellent football throughout.
There was a goal just before half-time due to a mix up at the back which put Moyne Villa 1- 0 up. Then again just after half-time another mix up in the defence allowed Villa to score their second and put Villa 2 goals ahead and seemingly put the game to bed as a contest.
A few tactical changes from the Renmore management team and with the introduction of super sub and man of the match Scott Rigney, Renmore galvanised into action. Their first goal arrived with 12 minutes remaining by an a excellent finish from Rigney who drove an excellent strike past the Villa keeper into the bottom corner. Five minutes later Renmore were back level when Rigney ghosted in between 2 defender's and with a delicate touch flicked the ball past the advancing Villa keeper to make it 2-2.
Renmore were not done yet when an excellent ball in from out on the wing found captain Ollie Sheppard at the end of the cross and with the faintest of touches finished into the bottom corner of the net to ignite wild celebrations from all associated with Renmore!
Next up is an away fixture next Saturday at 11:00 against East Utd.
Renmore AFC 5-6 Galway Hibernians
All those in attendance for the U12 Division 4 game between Renmore and Galway Hibs on Saturday were treated to a veritable feast of entertainment in the sunshine, with 11 goals shared between the teams. Renmore ultimately came out on the wrong side of the result, with Galway Hibs scoring the decider in the dying seconds of a titanic battle. Galway Hibs wrested early control of the game and looked to be set to dominate after scoring twice in the early exchanges, finding success by moving the ball at pace from defence to attack.
Renmore settled into the game, with Callum Flynn orchestrating much of their attacking from the left of midfield and reduced the deficit with an excellent Paddy McGuiness strike after Galway Hibs had initially cleared a Renmore corner. From this point on, the game evolved into an incredible contest with momentum shifting from one side to the other right to the final whistle.
Renmore brought the game level on 3 separate occasions with excellent goals from John Geaney, Eoghann Ott and Cathal Sheppard and took their first lead with a goal from the tireless Senan O’Neill with a few minutes to go.
When Galway Hibs brought the game level at 5, it all seemed as if the spoils would be shared, but with the final whistle imminent, the ball arrived at the feet of Patrick Ward , who was lethal throughout for Hibs, and he finally settled the game with his 4th goal in all.
A wonderful game was marred by a very unfortunate injury to Brandon McDonagh and Patrick Ward from Galway Hibs; all players and volunteers from Renmore AFC wish Brandon and Patrick a rapid recovery and hope to see them back in action if the teams meet again this season for another barnstormer.

Renmore B 2 - 2 West Utd B
O'Loughlin
Mangan
Renmore B faced off against West United B in Renmore on Saturday afternoon. The game started at a frantic pace with both sides having early chances to score. Renmore got a foothold in the game when Alex O’Loughlin broke clear of the West defence and calmly slotted home to give Renmore the lead. Alex’s goal marks a continuation of the blistering start the young man has made in the early part of the season. Renmore continued to look dangerous from this point onwards, with Rob Mangan and Shane McHugh getting dangerous balls into the box. Rob Mangan was rewarded for his industry when he glided passed two West defenders and superbly finished into the bottom corner. West were not to be beaten however, and showed great character in rallying back in the second half and scoring two goals as the game finished 2-2. There was plenty of promise for Renmore to build on in the coming matches ahead.
OUGHTERARD 3-5 RENMORE AFC B
Western Hygiene Division 2 - 04/09/21
Five outstanding goals today for Renmore AFC with 2 from Rob Mangan, 2 from Kieron McGinty and 1 from young Alex O'Loughlin got the Renmore B's off to the best possible start to the season by claiming all 3 point's against a resolute Oughterard side.
Renmore got off to the worst start possible by conceding a sloppy goal within the first minute. An outstanding performance from then until the finish with some brilliant passages of play for long spells saw Renmore AFC take the game.
Renmore AFC controlled the first half and got their just reward when a well guided free kick, from man of the match Alan Hanley, found the head of Kieron McGinty and he made no mistake with his header to equalise the game.
Renmore pushed hard to find another but were hit with another sucker punch early in the 2nd half to go 2-1 down, but within a minute they were back on parity with a 30 yard thunder bolt from Kieron McGinty to yet again bring the game level.
Renmore pushed further forward and got their reward with 2 brilliant finishes from the outstanding Rob Mangan, one from a stunning free kick and another by some individual brilliance and trickery that capped off his second goal of the game. Then another from the boot of young Alex O'Loughlin who produced a brilliant performance from start to finish on his debut into Junior football.
